Matinee Series

Our Matinee Series is a lineup of family-friendly shows covering a wide range of performances from Shakespeare to Pete the Cat! These shows are specially designed to teach kids of all ages about the importance of good nutrition, classic literature, anti-bullying, STEAM, and more!

 

When our shows are announced, there is a short window to buy your tickets. Tickets for Pete the Cat and Ada Twist Scientist are available for purchase through December 9th. Afterward, all available seats will be reserved for our Youth Education Scholarship awardees. If you have any questions about the content of our shows, or if we can assist you with tickets for your classroom or school, please call the box office 803-436-2616.

The application for the Youth Education Scholarship for the Spring 2025 shows is now open. The application closes December 9 and is eligible for Title I elementary school classes, Kindergarten through 4th grade (K-4). Theater Works USA presents Pete the Cat, an exciting musical based on the best-selling children’s book series by Kimberly and James Dean. This vibrant show follows Pete, a groovy blue cat who faces every adventure with his signature positive attitude. When Pete’s day doesn’t go as planned, he shows kids that even when things don’t turn out perfectly, it’s all about embracing the journey and having fun along the way. Through catchy songs, colorful sets, and humorous moments, Pete teaches young audiences about resilience, creativity, and the power of a positive mindset.

Packed with engaging music and high-energy performances, Pete the Cat invites the whole family to sing, dance, and laugh while learning valuable lessons about friendship, problem-solving, and self-expression.

Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends

Ada Twist, Scientist & Friends is an interactive performance inspired by the book series by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts. The story centers on Ada, a young girl with a deep curiosity about the world around her. Along with her friends — Rosie Revere, Engineer, and Iggy Peck, Architect — Ada embarks on a series of experiments and investigations to solve a perplexing mystery. The performance highlights the excitement of scientific exploration and the importance of persistence through puppetry and music . As they work together to gather clues, the group faces challenges that require creative thinking and teamwork. It's a perfect blend of science, engineering, and problem-solving that encourages kids to think critically, ask questions, and to embrace collaboration in their own learning journeys.
