Artist Spotlight Series

Sumter Opera House will shine a spotlight on the talented artists who help to make our dynamic community what it is today. Every month we will feature one artist on our social media channels. Please follow the instructions below if you are a musician, performer, visual artist, comedian, poet, or any other artistic entity who would like to be featured. If you have any questions, please contact us. We are excited to collaborate with you on future projects!

Step 1: Select a Question

Pick one question from the following questions that you would like to answer:

What hidden talents do you have?

When did you start creating?

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

How did you learn how to do what you do?

What was the worst artistic experience you have ever had?

What are you known for?

If you could pick another artform, what would it be and why?

Do you have any pets?

What is your idea of a great artist?

What is your favorite color and why?

If there was a national day dedicated to you/your art, what would it be called and what would it consist of?

If you could not create art/perform art, what other career would you choose?

What is your artistic process?

What is the name of your most recent piece?

If you could time travel, where would you go?

if you could live as any one of your idols, who would you switch bodies with?

If there is one thing you could change about the world, what would it be?

If you had to make a playlist, what would it be called and what top songs would be on it?

If you could sum your life up in one song title, what would it be?

How does your culture play a part in your music creation/performance process?

Step 2: Record Your Video

Now record a 60 second video clip!

First, introduce yourself- say hello to those watching, state your name and what you're currently working on.

Second, respond to the answer with the remaining time.

Third, shout out Sumter Opera House!

*When recording, please do the following:

Record in a quiet place with no background noises or distractions.

Be sure that you are not too close, and not too far from the camera.

Allow for there to be enough natural light so that the image isn't distorted.

Please check to see if you are recording in 1080p or 4K resolution. This can be viewed in the settings of your phone. If not- no worries, but the higher the resolution, the better for all!

Step 3: Submit Your Video

To submit your video for consideration, please upload it to WeTransfer, or upload it to an accessible folder online such as Google Drive, Dropbox & email the link to yourfriends@colorinsound.com.
