For 125 years, the Sumter Opera House has been a beacon of culture, hosting unforgettable live performances and serving as a hub for civic life. Today, this iconic venue—home to City Hall, City Council chambers, and a 550-seat theatre—stands at the crossroads of history and transformation. We honor our legacy by inviting you to our Grand Closing Bash on June 13, a jubilant farewell before a two-year renovation and historic revitalization begins. This celebration, along with a series of special events leading up to the grand finale, marks a new chapter in our story—a chapter where old memories meet new, and the arts continue to spark community vibrancy, quality of life, education, and economic growth. Join us as we toast to the past and embrace the future, ensuring that the mission of the Sumter Opera House endures for generations to come.
